Carlo Ancelotti has stated that the collective attitude of his players will be more important than tactical systems as Brazil step up preparations for next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Italian manager took charge of Brazil in May after leaving Real Madrid and has already secured their qualification for the tournament. Under his guidance, Brazil have recorded two wins, one draw and one loss, finishing fifth in the CONMEBOL qualifiers following a surprise 1-0 defeat to Bolivia.
Brazil are scheduled to face South Korea in a friendly on Friday before travelling to take on Japan on Tuesday as Ancelotti continues to finalise his plans.
Ancelotti Focused on Mentality Over Tactics
Ancelotti has experimented with different formations across his opening matches but insists that structure alone will not be enough for World Cup success.
He said that while Brazil still need tactical refinement in possession, the main factor will be the mindset and intensity shown by the players on the pitch. He praised the team’s defensive discipline in June and September, pointing to their compact and committed performance levels.
He also stated that whether Brazil line up with three, four or five attackers, the real difference will come from the technical quality and mentality displayed during matches. The dressing room atmosphere has been described as positive, driven by professionalism and unity among the squad.
Brazil’s World Cup Ambition
Brazil were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the 2022 World Cup by Croatia on penalties and have not lifted the trophy since 2002. Ancelotti made it clear that the goal is not individual recognition but winning the tournament altogether.
He emphasised that every player must approach the competition with a winning mindset rather than focusing on personal accolades.
