Arsenal and Liverpool Confirm Deals for Kabia and McConnell

Arsenal’s Ismeal Kabia and Liverpool’s James McConnell complete loan transfers ahead of Premier League clash

Arsenal and Liverpool have officially confirmed transfer moves involving young stars Ismeal Kabia and James McConnell ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.

Arsenal announced that 19-year-old winger Ismeal Kabia has joined League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan. Kabia, who joined Arsenal’s academy in March 2017, recently signed his second professional contract with the club.

Last season, the versatile attacker was named as an unused substitute 13 times across the Premier League and Champions League for Mikel Arteta’s side. He eventually made his senior debut in Arsenal’s 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Liverpool confirmed that James McConnell has joined Ajax on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season after penning a new long-term contract with the Reds.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Sunderland at U15 level, has progressed through the Academy ranks and already made 13 senior appearances for the first team. He will now continue his development under former Liverpool coach John Heitinga, currently Ajax’s manager.
