Arsenal opened a five-point gap at the top of the Premier League table after edging Wolves 2-1 in a closely contested encounter on Saturday.
The Gunners’ lead had earlier been reduced to two points following their defeat to Aston Villa and Manchester City’s victory over Sunderland.
Despite dominating possession, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to register a shot on target for long periods of the match.
Arsenal eventually took the lead through an own goal by Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnson.
Wolves responded late in the game when Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare headed in an equaliser, threatening to deny the visitors all three points.
However, Arsenal found a dramatic winner as Yerson Mosquera headed past Johnson to restore the Gunners’ advantage and seal the victory.
Manchester City can cut the gap at the top again when they travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
