Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka to Miss Nottingham Forest Clash as Saliba Nears Return

Bukayo Saka celebrates after scoring for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium

Bukayo Saka will sit out Arsenal’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest due to a hamstring injury, while William Saliba could make his return, according to Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that winger Bukayo Saka will not be available for the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.

Saka sustained the injury during Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds United, while William Saliba picked up an ankle issue in the 1-0 loss to Liverpool.

“Bukayo is still out. He’s trying to get back as quick as possible, but we need to respect that process,” Arteta said. “William trained today. We have a decision to make on whether we play him or not.”

Saka doubtful for Champions League opener

Arteta did not confirm whether Saka would also miss Tuesday’s Champions League opener against Athletic Bilbao or next weekend’s Premier League showdown with Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz is recovering well after undergoing knee surgery on the opening day of the season, while striker Gabriel Jesus is not expected to return from his ACL injury until December or January.

Hincapie in contention for debut

New signing Piero Hincapie could feature for the first time after joining the Gunners. However, Arteta noted that the Ecuadorian defender has only trained twice with his new teammates after international duty.

Arteta wary of Postecoglou’s Forest

Arsenal face a Forest side under new coach Ange Postecoglou, who took charge during the international break. Arteta praised the former Tottenham manager, saying:

“He has a clear DNA and style of play. Very clear, very good to watch. He believes in his players and knows how to get the best from them.”
