France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or award, have confirmed the three criteria that will determine the winner of the 2025 award.
According to CEO Vincent Garcia, he is the only person who knows the winner ahead of Monday night’s ceremony. Garcia outlined the factors that will guide the decision:
- Individual performances, including decisive and impressive displays throughout the season
- Titles and trophies achieved by the player
- Fair play and behavior on and off the field
The award is expected to be a close contest between Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, both of whom have enjoyed standout seasons. Dembele has been a key performer in PSG’s attack, contributing goals and assists, while Yamal has impressed at Barcelona with his technical skill and influence on games despite his young age.
Rodri of Manchester City is the current holder of the Ballon d’Or, having won the 2024 award over Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior. The upcoming ceremony will reveal if a new star takes the prestigious accolade this year.
