Barcelona delivered a stunning 6-0 victory over Valencia in their first home game of the LaLiga season, despite playing in front of just 6,000 fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski all scored twice as Barcelona stormed to a dominant win. The victory moved the Catalan giants to second place in the LaLiga table with 10 points, just two behind leaders Real Madrid, who have a perfect start with four wins from four matches.
Barcelona’s Scoring Spree
Fermin Lopez opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a strike inside the box, assisted by Ferran Torres. After the break, Raphinha came off the bench in the 58th minute to convert a cross from Marcus Rashford, before Lopez doubled his tally with a long-range strike. Raphinha completed his double in the 66th minute, and Lewandowski, introduced in the 68th minute, added two close-range strikes to complete the rout.
Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, praised his team after the match:
“From the outset, we demonstrated what we wanted to achieve, and that is what we have witnessed. Not only Fermin Lopez, who had a great game, but everyone has fought hard and enjoyed themselves on the pitch. The team has been outstanding in every position. The three points are perfect, and for me, it is wonderful to have to choose between so many great players.”
