England Squad Announced for Wales and Latvia Games as Bellingham Misses Out

England manager Thomas Tuchel has named his squad for the upcoming international fixtures against Wales and Latvia.

Notable absentees include Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is recalled to replace Adam Wharton from last month’s squad.

Bukayo Saka returns after recovering from a hamstring injury, and former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah earns a spot following a strong start at Bayer Leverkusen.

Several players miss out due to injury concerns: Cole Palmer (groin), Tino Livramento, and Noni Madueke. Arsenal defender Ben White also waits for his England comeback following a recent return to fitness.

Tuchel confirmed that the goalkeeper trio remains unchanged, with Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford, and James Trafford all keeping their places. The defensive line-up is mostly the same, with Quansah stepping in for Livramento.

In midfield, the only change is Loftus-Cheek replacing Wharton. Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Jordan Henderson, Declan Rice, and Morgan Rogers also feature.

Up front, Saka replaces Madueke, while Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, and Ollie Watkins complete the squad.

Speaking on his selections, Tuchel said:

“It’s only three weeks since the last camp. We had a winning last performance, so the question was why not bring the same group in because they set the standards. Now it’s about creating habits out of it.”

On Bellingham’s omission, Tuchel added:

“Jude is a very special player and for special players there can be special rules. But for this camp, we decided to stick with the same team. He has not fully gathered rhythm and has only started one match this season.”

England will face Wales in a friendly at Wembley on October 9, followed by a World Cup qualifier against Latvia on October 14.
