Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has strongly criticized Manchester United after their 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brentford on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Cole described United’s display as “insipid and abysmal,” insisting that Brentford were superior in every aspect of the game.

Speaking on TNT Sports, he said:

“Brentford were best in every department today. For United, it is abysmal. The whole culture of the club is insipid.”

Goals from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen sealed victory for Brentford, while Benjamin Sesko grabbed United’s only goal. Bruno Fernandes also missed a penalty in what turned out to be a frustrating afternoon for Ruben Amorim’s side.

The defeat adds more pressure on United, who continue to struggle for form in the Premier League.
