Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has given the latest update on striker Victor Osimhen’s condition ahead of the team’s UEFA Champions League away match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
Osimhen is recovering from an ankle ligament injury he sustained while on international duty with the Nigeria national team during their recent match against Rwanda.
Due to the injury, the 26-year-old missed Galatasaray’s 2-0 win over Eyüpspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday at Eyüp Stadyumu. Goals from Mauro Icardi and Yunus Akgün secured all three points for the hosts.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Buruk said of Osimhen:
“Osimhen’s condition will be clear in a few days. We think he will play [against Eyüpspor]. He has pain, we will see if he can play with it [against Frankfurt].”
The manager’s comments provide some hope that the Nigerian striker could feature in Galatasaray’s upcoming Champions League fixture.
