Manchester United have agreed to sell Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for £40 million ($54m), according to club sources.
At 21 years old, Garnacho becomes one of United’s most valuable departures, with the deal ranking as the club’s fourth-largest sale behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Angel Di Maria.
Garnacho’s United Career
Since making his debut, Garnacho played 93 Premier League matches for United. However, he was one of five players seeking an exit this summer, alongside Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.
- Rashford joined Barcelona on loan earlier this month.
- Manager Ruben Amorim left Garnacho out of his squad this season after a poor start that saw United crash out of the League Cup to Grimsby Town.
Chelsea’s New Signing
Chelsea, who face Fulham in the Premier League on Friday, will now integrate Garnacho into their squad as they continue a major squad rebuild.
The £40m transfer signals Chelsea’s intent to strengthen their attacking options with young, versatile talent.
