Inter Miami Signs Mexican Forward German Berterame

January 31, 2026 – Inter Miami has officially signed Mexican national team forward German Berterame to a designated player contract through the 2028-29 season, with an option to extend for 2029-30.

Berterame, 25, joined Monterrey in 2022 and scored 68 goals with 15 assists in 153 appearances across all competitions. Originally from Argentina, he became a naturalized Mexican citizen and could feature in this summer’s World Cup after scoring two goals in eight caps for Mexico.

Reflecting on his move, Berterame said: “When I renewed my contract with Monterrey, I told the sporting director, ‘I’m not leaving unless something really eye-catching comes along.’ I was thinking about Europe, or, of course, if Messi came and took me with him.”

This last remark nods to Lionel Messi, the two-time reigning MLS MVP and Inter Miami superstar, entering his third full season with the club.

Berterame’s arrival strengthens Inter Miami’s attack and adds depth as they prepare for both domestic and continental challenges in the coming seasons.
