Everton star Jack Grealish has earned praise for his humility after attempting to hand his Man of the Match award to Adam Wharton following a thrilling 2–1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Toffees ended the Eagles’ impressive 19-game unbeaten run thanks to Grealish’s dramatic 93rd-minute winner, which came in chaotic fashion after Daniel Muñoz’s late clearance deflected off him and into the net.

Everton’s Comeback and Grealish’s Selfless Gesture

Palace took the lead in the first half through Daniel Muñoz, but Everton fought back when Iliman Ndiaye converted a 76th-minute penalty.

After sealing the victory in stoppage time, Grealish was named Man of the Match — but he was quick to point out that Adam Wharton deserved the honour instead.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 30-year-old said:

“Adam Wharton today… I can see the man of the match award there. I think that’s coming to me.
But it should have gone to Adam Wharton because in my opinion he was the best player on the pitch.”

Despite his modesty, Grealish graciously accepted the trophy, smiling:

“Cheers, third one now this season, so we take it.”

Tuchel Snub Doesn’t Slow Grealish Down

Despite his strong performances, Grealish, on loan from Manchester City, was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.

The winger addressed the omission before the match:

“You always want to play well for your club, but of course, every player dreams of representing their country.
There’s a lot of competition in that left-wing spot — Rashford, Eze, Anthony Gordon — everyone’s flying.”

Tuchel later confirmed there’s “no problem” with the Everton star, adding that Grealish is “on the way to being the best version of himself.”
