Joe Willock Runs Out of Petrol in £200k Porsche During Newcastle Outing

Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock experienced an unexpected motoring mishap when his £200,000 Porsche 911 GT3 ran out of petrol on a roundabout in Cowgate, Newcastle. Fans captured the incident on video as the £80,000-a-week star filled his tank using a jerry can, just a few hundred yards from a nearby garage.

In the clip, Willock, 26, wearing a Newcastle training top and black joggers, is heard joking with a passer-by: “Yeh, hopefully, otherwise I’m fg pushing it.”* Despite the embarrassing situation, Willock thanked fans and went on his way, leaving many amused on social media. One fan commented, “Hahahahah poor Joe Willock,” while another joked about the irony of a high-speed car running out of fuel: “All the money and running this car on empty.”

This incident adds to the lighter side of football stars’ lives off the pitch. Earlier this year, Willock’s teammate Dan Burn gained attention for helping a stranded motorist by pushing a car through the city, which fans humorously compared to Willock’s predicament.

Willock joined Newcastle initially on loan from Arsenal in January 2021 and secured a permanent move in August 2021 for £25 million on a six-year deal. Despite his Premier League success, this incident shows even professional footballers aren’t immune to everyday mishaps.
