Manchester United could be without Patrick Dorgu for several weeks after the defender suffered a hamstring injury during last weekend’s dramatic Premier League victory over Arsenal.
The 21-year-old Dane was forced off in the closing stages of United’s 3–2 win at the Emirates Stadium, just half an hour after scoring his side’s second goal with a powerful left-footed finish. Initial assessments suggest the injury is more serious than first feared.
Speaking ahead of United’s next league fixture, manager Michael Carrick confirmed Dorgu will be sidelined for a period, though the exact length of his absence is still being evaluated.
“Pat is going to be out for a period of time,” Carrick said. “We’re still working through how long that’s going to be. We weren’t sure at first if it was cramp or something more serious, but it looks more serious now.”
Dorgu has enjoyed an impressive run of form since joining United in the summer, also finding the net earlier this month in the victory over Manchester City. His recent performances had quickly established him as a key figure under Carrick.
United, currently fourth in the Premier League table, face Fulham next as they look to secure a third consecutive win since Carrick took charge. However, the potential loss of Dorgu could test the squad’s depth during a crucial phase of the season.
