The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced that guard Max Strus will be sidelined for three to four months after undergoing surgery on his left foot. This injury will cause him to miss a portion of the 2025-26 NBA regular season.
Strus, 29, suffered a Jones fracture during a recent workout and had surgery at Forte Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Indianapolis. A Jones fracture is a break in the bone connecting the pinkie toe to the base of the foot.
The prolific shooter also missed the first two months of last season after spraining his right ankle during pre-season workouts. He returned in late December and played in 50 regular-season games, averaging 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 38.6% from beyond the arc. In nine playoff games, he averaged 11.7 points, including two 20-point outings in the Eastern Conference semifinals against Indiana.
After spending one season in Chicago and three in Miami, the DePaul alumnus joined Cleveland on a four-year, $63 million sign-and-trade deal. In his first season with the Cavs, Strus averaged a career-high 12.2 points per game.
Across his NBA career, Strus has appeared in 309 games, including 156 starts, and maintains a career average of 10.4 points per game.
