Newcastle United have agreed a £55 million ($74.3 million) fee to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, according to English media reports.
The 28-year-old DR Congo international had been Newcastle’s top target following Alexander Isak’s decision to join Liverpool in a British-record £125 million move.
Wissa scored 45 goals in 137 Premier League appearances for Brentford since arriving from French side Lorient. However, he did not feature this season as he awaited a move to Newcastle, publicly urging Brentford to allow the transfer via social media last week.
With two years left on his contract at Brentford, Wissa is expected to undergo a medical at Newcastle later on Monday before finalizing his move.
His arrival will provide a boost for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, whose side has recorded two 0-0 draws in their opening three Premier League fixtures this season.
