Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has stated that female football is not as financially rewarding as male football.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Leadership Podcast hosted by Stephen Akintayo, the Paris Saint-Germain star highlighted the stark difference in earnings between male and female players.
“Female football is not as rewarding as male football. The financial reward is not even close. To be honest, the narrative is changing compared to 10-12 years ago. Every year there is always an improvement which we appreciate, but the gap is still really wide from male football,” Ajibade said.
She emphasized that the inequality stems from a lack of awareness and sponsorship for women’s football and appealed for greater support and investment in the women’s game.
Ajibade also acknowledged the progress female football has made over the last decade but stressed that more work is needed to bridge the gap.
