Rodri Admits He’s Not Messi, Warns He Cannot Single-Handedly Make Manchester City Win

Rodri speaking to the media after Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Brighton

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has admitted he does not possess the game-changing abilities of eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

Speaking to the media after Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium, Rodri emphasized that he cannot single-handedly make the team win.

The Spaniard returned to Pep Guardiola’s starting XI but could not inspire a comeback, leaving City with only three points from three Premier League fixtures so far.

“I’m not Messi. I’m not going to come back and make the team win and win,” Rodri said.

“This is a collective; when we won in the past, I needed all my teammates. For sure I have to recover and find my best level. It’s not because I’m back we’re going to win. It’s a collective sport.”

Rodri’s comments highlight the importance of teamwork and collective effort in Manchester City’s campaign as they aim to defend their Premier League title.
