Real Madrid have confirmed that Antonio Rüdiger has suffered an injury to his left thigh.
The German international, who featured in both of Germany’s World Cup qualifiers this month, has been diagnosed with a rectus femoris muscle injury following medical tests.
As a result, the 32-year-old was left out of Real Madrid’s squad for their upcoming LaLiga clash against Real Sociedad.
Rüdiger recently returned to action in June during the FIFA Club World Cup after undergoing knee surgery in April for a partial meniscus tear. The former Chelsea and Roma defender’s recovery time for this latest setback has not been disclosed by the club.
This injury adds to Real Madrid’s defensive concerns as they continue their push in both domestic and European competitions.
