Los Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Emmet Sheehan carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning, while Teoscar Hernandez hit two home runs, powering the Dodgers to a 7-2 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Sheehan became the third Dodgers starter in four games to carry a no-hitter through five innings, following Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow earlier this week. Both previous no-hit attempts were broken in the ninth inning.
Dodgers’ Offensive Firepower
- Teoscar Hernandez hit his first home run since August 20 and added a second in the eighth inning.
- Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts also went deep for Los Angeles, which now holds an 81-64 record, two games ahead of the second-place San Diego Padres in the National League West.
- Returning from a hand contusion, Will Smith doubled in the second inning and scored on a wild pitch from German Marquez, giving the Dodgers an early 1-0 lead.
- Mookie Betts’ solo home run in the third inning made it 3-0, followed by Hernandez’s homer in the fourth and an RBI single from Shohei Ohtani in the fifth, extending the lead to 5-0.
Pitching Highlights
Sheehan matched a career high by pitching seven innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out eight. The Rockies’ Hunter Goodman hit his 30th home run, while starter German Marquez gave up five runs on six hits in five innings.
The Dodgers improved to 10-2 against the Rockies this season, with the final game of the series scheduled for Wednesday.
Sheehan allowed his first hit in the sixth inning to Kyle Karros, son of former Dodgers slugger Eric Karros, who holds the franchise’s Los Angeles-era home run record with 270. Karros later scored the Rockies’ second run on a single from Tyler Freeman.
