Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney was spotted enjoying a low key evening with his family in Cheshire.
The United legend was seen leaving a local shop carrying shopping bags before heading home, while later his wife Coleen picked up a family sized portion of fish and chips in Alderley Edge.
Onlookers described the couple as appearing ready for a quiet and relaxing night in. Rooney has previously spoken about enjoying simple evenings at home, often saying he prefers putting on his pyjamas and watching television with his family.
Focus on Family and Football
The outing comes during an exciting period for the Rooney family. Wayne’s son, Kai, 16, has recently been offered a scholarship and professional deal with Manchester United.
Kai made headlines after scoring four goals in a single match for United’s Under 16 side shortly after being offered terms. He is regarded as part of a promising group of academy talents pushing to break through at Old Trafford.
Wayne, the club’s all time record goalscorer, has regularly shown support for his son’s progress and was present to watch Kai make his FA Youth Cup debut for the Under 18s earlier this season.
For the Rooneys, it appears football success and quiet family evenings continue to go hand in hand.
