Wolfsburg Sign Christian Eriksen on Two-Year Deal

Christian Eriksen celebrates after scoring for Denmark before completing his transfer to Wolfsburg on a two-year deal

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed the signing of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer, following his departure from Manchester United earlier this summer. The 33-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with the German club.

Eriksen’s Career Journey

Eriksen brings a wealth of experience to Wolfsburg, having made over 310 Premier League appearances across spells with Manchester United, Brentford, and Tottenham Hotspur. He also featured for Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A title.

The midfielder’s resilience has been widely admired since he suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2021 during Denmark’s clash with Finland. After being fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), Eriksen made a remarkable return to professional football.

Wolfsburg’s Expectations

Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz expressed excitement about Eriksen’s arrival:

“We’re getting a player who has seen and experienced everything at the highest level. His enormous experience, quality on the pitch, and personality will be a valuable boost to our young players.”

Currently sitting sixth in the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg will be hoping Eriksen’s vision and creativity can help push the team further up the table. They next face Cologne on Saturday.
