Caitlin Clark returned to the starting five after missing out on one Fever game vs Portland. Fever faced the Golden State Valkyries on Friday. The Fever have now won 2 games back to back, one without Caitlin and one with her. Around all the controversy and speculations, Fever has actually managed to find momentum and get their season on track.
Caitlin Clark had missed the last game vs Portland Fire due to stiffness in her back. She was reported probably for today’s game and that only brought more criticism for how Stephanie White has been managing the situation. This morning, Clark was declared fit.
Caitlin Clark got 22 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists in 32 minutes played. Fever completed an inspired comeback in the second half to grab the 90-82 win. During the win, Clark got her 2nd technical foul of this season after a confrontation with Valkyries’ Janelle Salaun.
Valkyries star shoved Clark in the back and Fever star almost immediately reacted aggressively. Salaun flung her hand and Clark got close to her. However, in all the rukus, Caitlin actually did not realise that she had gotten a technical foul for that exchange.
“Oh, did I get a technical?” Caitlin Clark asked with a concerned look on her face. Reporter confirmed that she did. “No way. It’ll make sense for the rest of the night. So I am not surprised. Wow. Wow, I could have got ejected in the second half. Okay, well,” she said.
“Guess I have some fines coming my way. The refs were interesting but I’m not going to say anything else. Because obviously I probably had $1000 worth of fine done by her. But I was trying to get the rebound and I didn’t know I got a technical foul. Thanks for letting me know now,” Clark said with a laugh.
Stephanie White makes feelings clear on Caitlin Clark’s technical
Just like Clark, apparently Fever head coach Stephanie White also did not have any knowledge of the technical foul. In the post game interview, she was just as surprised as Caitlin Clark.
Due to no knowledge, she also revealed that she was obviously not concerned about her getting ejected. “I guess they announced it, but nobody told us. I thought the officials would have told us,” head coach Stephanie White shared.
