2026 NBA draft profiles: Philadelphia 76ers prospect Ebuka Okorie

With the 2026 NBA draft fast approaching, the first round is on June 23, now’s the time to look at some potential options for the Philadelphia 76ers with the No. 22 pick. If one wants to look at Sixers Wire’s draft big board, one can do so here.

This series will focus on specific players. The Sixers have a first-round pick thanks to the Jared McCain trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder via the Houston Rockets. After a trip to Round 2 of the playoffs, the Sixers have an opportunity to add to the roster and get themselves another talented young piece around Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe for the future.

Up next in this series is Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie:

Strengths

Okorie is blazing quick with the basketball and that makes him dangerous on the offensive end of the floor. He has an incredible burst of speed that allows him to get to the basket and gives him an advantage over a lot of opposing guards on the perimeter. He averaged 23.2 points on 46.5% shooting with roughly 50% of his shot attempts coming at the rim. That type of quickness cannot be taught and that aggressive style of play will make him an intriguing prospect in this upcoming NBA draft.

He’s also a capable shooter, which pairs nicely with his ability to put pressure on the rim. He shot 35.4% from deep on 5.7 attempts in the 2025-26 season and really carried the Stanford offense at times. The Cardinal did not qualify for postseason play, but that wasn’t due to Okorie as he had a team-high offensive box plus-minus of 8.4. He isn’t the greatest playmaker, but that can be attributed to Stanford’s roster not being the greatest to work with for him. He had a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio in 2025-26.

Weaknesses

Okorie is a smaller guard standing at just 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 186 pounds. That right there will make teams hunt him on the defensive end and make his life miserable on that end of the floor. Smaller guards can succeed in the NBA, see Brunson, Jalen with the New York Knicks, but Okorie is going to have to get in the weight room and really build muscle to deal with the size and physicality of the top players at the next level. With that being said, he has a good head on his shoulders and will likely work on it to make sure he is ready to go for when the time calls for it.

Fit with Sixers

When considering the fact that the Sixers have Maxey and Edgecombe in the backcourt, one has to wonder if Philadelphia will want to bring in another smaller guard to join that group. However, the Sixers could absolutely use another ball-handler who can create offense for both himself and the team. Okorie would be a big part of this team’s bench unit that struggled mightily in the playoffs.
