The 2025-26 campaign for the Oregon Ducks was an abnormality, as head coach Dana Altman had won 20 or more games in each of his previous 15 seasons leading the program. It appears that recruits are trusting that sentiment, as the Ducks kept the commitments of 2026 four-star Tajh Ariza and three-star Seven Spurlock despite coming off of winning just 12 games. Four-star center Kendre Harrison also remains committed, though his focus appears to be on football right now.
Altman went to work in the portal to rebuild next year’s roster, but recruiting has to continue to be at the forefront in order to once again have sustained success.
Talented 2027 shooting guard Chase Lumpkin will be one of the most important recruits for Altman to key in on, as the four-star recruit expressed his desire to On3’s Joe Tipton of scheduling a visit to Eugene. Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, Louisville and Florida State are also players in Lumpkin’s recruitment.
Here’s what the 6-foot-4, 170-pound guard had to say about Oregon:

Lumpkin, a Powder Springs, GA, native, is the No. 5 shooting guard and No. 56 player nationally in the 2027 class, per 247Sports Composite. He attends McEachern High School, and is the eighth-ranked player in Georgia.
Currently, the Ducks don’t have any commits as part of their 2027 class, not irregular considering it’s so early in the process. But pushing for Lumpkin to take a visit to Eugene and see what the Ducks’ program is all about has to be high on the priority list for Altman and Co., as he would be among the top recruits that Oregon has reeled in in recent years.
