Indiana Fever exercise Caitlin Clark’s fourth-year option

The Indiana Fever announced that they have exercised the fourth-year option on superstar point guard Caitlin Clark.

It officially brings Clark under contract with the Fever for the 2027 WNBA season. The move also enables Clark to renegotiate her fourth-year salary and agree to a three-year contract extension under the EPIC (Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract) provision in the new WNBA collective bargaining agreement.

Per Spotrac, Clark will earn $528,846 this season with the Fever. Clark’s salary cap number figures to skyrocket beginning next season when she inevitably renegotiates her fourth-year salary and signs the aforementioned contract extension.

The Fever just inked star forward Aliyah Boston to a record-setting contract extension under the new CBA. Boston signed a four-year, $6.3 million extension with the Fever.

The Fever also signed Kelsey Mitchell to a one-year, $1.4 million supermax deal.

Clark is currently eligible to earn up to the max in 2027, which is 17% of the team’s salary cap. That’s because Clark earned an All-WNBA first-team nod in 2024.

If Clark were to win MVP this season, Clark would be eligible to make the supermax in 2027, which is 20% of the team’s salary cap.
