Wonderful “Champ” Monds is announcing his commitment on The Pat McAfee Show. Monds is ranked the 20th-ranked QB in the country and the number two-ranked quarterback in the state of Florida behind Davin Davidson, who committed to the Florida Gators.

Monds is out of Vero Beach, where he earned the starting QB job at Vero Beach High School as a freshman. In his first year as a starter in 2024, he led his team to an 8-4 record, posting 2,234 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns along the way. He also rushed for 502 yards and 9 touchdowns.

In 2025, he suffered an ankle injury in the season opener and did not return to action until the state playoffs. In four total games played, though, he went for 691 yards and 7 touchdowns. He reclassified from the 2028 to the 2027 class and is gearing up for his final high school season in 2026.

Where the rest of the 2027 QB class stands

With Monds now coming off the board, that leaves just two uncommitted top-25 quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle. They are the no. 7 overall QB, Peter Bourque, and the no. 14 QB, Colton Nussmeier, the younger brother of former LSU QB, Garrett Nussmeier.

Bourque, the number one QB prospect in the state of Massachusetts, was originally committed to Michigan and decommitted back in February. Since, he’s been linked to Penn State, Virginia Tech, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. On3 recently logged a prediction of Penn State.

As for the younger Nussmeier, he is ranked as the sixth QB prospect in Texas and has 21 total offers, including LSU. According to On3/Rivals, there is a 97.2% expert prediction for him to follow in his brother’s footsteps in Baton Rouge.
