Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey was arrested early Friday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for possession of a fake ID and consuming alcohol underage.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department website, Lindsey, 20, was booked at 1:13 a.m and released just over seven hours later. The Minnesota football program has told outlets that it was “aware of the situation and will address it internally.”
The Fayetteville Police Department said that it was called to the YeeHawg Bar after they became suspicious about a fake ID. Lindsey is a native of Fayetteville and a hearing has been scheduled for June 1.
Lindsey emerged as Minnesota’s starter in 2025 as a redshirt freshman. Across 13 games, he was 246-of-389 for 2,382 yards and 18 TDs with just six interceptions while also rushing for four scores. Half of those interceptions came in a 41-3 loss to Iowa in October.
The Gophers went 8-5 a season ago and beat New Mexico in overtime to win the Rate Bowl. Lindsey’s best game of the year came in a 31-28 win over Rutgers in September. He was 31-of-41 passing for 324 yards and three touchdowns. It was the only time he threw for over 300 yards all season.
Lindsey was a three-star recruit in the class of 2024 and the No. 10 quarterback in his class. According to his Rivals profile, he did not have a scholarship offer from his hometown Arkansas Razorbacks.
