If you have Xfinity, watching Pistons’ Game 7 is going to be tricky

Detroit — The Pistons are about to play their first-ever Game 7 in the city limits of Detroit.

And for many fans, the game could prove hard to watch.

Sunday’s Game 7 between the Pistons and Orlando Magic will be broadcast on ABC. That creates a problem for many Detroiters and Metro Detroiters. The local ABC affiliate, WXYZ Channel 7, is not carried on cable giant Comcast/Xfinity because of a dispute over carrier fees.

The contract between Xfinity and E.W. Scripps-owned WXYZ expired March 31, and a deal wasn’t reached to renew. Forty Scripps-owned TV stations across the country have gone dark on Xfinity.

If you have Xfinity, there are a couple of other options. You could invest in an old-fashioned antenna, or you could subscribe to the ESPN Unlimited app; all games broadcast on ABC also are aired on the ESPN Unlimited app. Or you listen to the Pistons’ radio broadcast, on WWJ 950-AM.

What channel will the Pistons vs. Magic game be on?

  • Tip-off: 3:30 p.m. Sunday
  • TV/streaming: ABC
  • Radio: 950

ABC is planning several hours of coverage for Pistons-Magic Game 7, including a pregame show at 2:30 featuring Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson. They will also do a postgame show. The game broadcasters will be Mike Breen, Richard Jefferson, Tim Legler and Lisa Salters.

Ticket prices for Game 7 at Little Caesars Arena have been surging on the secondary markets since the Pistons completed a wild, 24-point comeback to win Game 6 in Orlando, 93-79.

The Pistons said Saturday that doors to LCA will open two hours before tip-off Sunday.
