Six months after reaching the NCAA Volleyball Tournament for the first time since 2018, the Arizona Wildcats had lost eight players to graduation or transfer. On Tuesday, that number became nine with the announcement of sophomore middle blocker Adrianna Bridges that she will transfer with two years of eligibility left.

The Florida native joins outside hitter Paige Thies and setter Chloe Giehtbrock in the decision to enter during the spring portal window. Setter Avery Scoggins and defensive specialist Giorgia Mandotti entered during the December window. Scoggins has since committed to Vanderbilt and Mandotti landed at West Georgia.

Bridges joined the program in the same class as Carlie Cisneros, Brenna Ginder, and Scoggins. The other three became starters as freshmen. Bridges took that step as a sophomore.

She played 17 sets in 11 matches as a freshman. As a sophomore, she started all 30 matches for the Wildcats and played 102 sets. She led the team with 0.87 blocks per set and 89 total blocks. Her 148 kills were first among the middle blockers and third on the team. She was good for 1.45 kills per set on .284 hitting.

Her stats improved across the board as she got more playing time in her second season. She jumped nearly a full kill per set after averaging 0.47 k/s as a freshman. Her hitting percentage was .263 her rookie year. She did not have a single service ace as a freshman but improved that to 0.18 per set as a sophomore. That was fifth on the team and third among players who would have returned this year.

Arizona head coach Rita Stubbs now has 11 players on the 2026 roster, including early entry freshman Hayden Reeder. The group includes five pins (3 OH, 2 OPP), three middles, two setters, and three libero/defensive specialists. That group will be joined by middle blocker Marina Vosloo and L/DS Gigi Whann over the summer.

The middles now consist of rising senior Journey Tucker, sophomore-to-be Maya Flemister, and Vosloo. Last year, Sydnie Vanek also played middle, but she has left the team to concentrate on track and field.

Stubbs said that she is looking for every position except littles. She posted a “Wild about da Cats” announcement on her Instagram story on May 4. That indicates a verbal commit who has yet to announce.

Stubbs can have a roster of up to 18 under the NCAA roster limits, but she has said she prefers a roster of 16-17. She has 14.75 scholarships that she can distribute to the players, but she no longer has to offer everyone on scholarship a full ride since the implementation of the House settlement.
