Devonta Smith should help Makai Lemon in NFL rookie season with Eagles

It is a foregone conclusion that A.J. Brown will not be with the Philadelphia Eagles this season. However, the Eagles did not stand pat and suffer a tough blow to their offense without having a solution for it. Drafting receiver Makai Lemon may not be the absolute equivalent of AJ Brown, but it is hard to say this Eagles receiver room won’t be as effective next season with Lemon and Devonta Smith.

In a recent tweet, Sleeper Eagles highlights how special the Eagles’ new receiver duo can be through a quote by senior writer Zack Berman. Here is what Berman had to say:

“Get used to the discussion of Smith and (Makai) Lemon as a combination for years to come. Assuming A.J. Brown is traded next month, Smith and Lemon will become the top two receivers.”

Devonta Smith proved last season that he can thrive as the number 1 guy at receiver. With A.J. Brown’s struggles, Devonta Smith was the Eagles’ best receiver last season, and he was a top receiver in the league. The Eagles now add Makai Lemon, who is a jack of all trades, and he adds a ton of versatility to the Eagles’ offense. Both Lemon and Smith complement each other perfectly, and before they take a snap together, they should be viewed as a top receiver duo in the NFL on paper.
