Barcelona forward Roony Bardghji is set to miss World Cup 2026 after being left out of the Sweden squad by manager Graham Potter.

The squad for the tournament was announced this afternoon and Roony’s a surprise absentee from the list.

Bardghji moved to Barcelona in the summer transfer window and has been part of Hansi Flick’s title-winning squad for the 2025-26 season.

The youngster is by no means a regular in the team but has made 26 appearances in his first season at the club in all competitions, scoring two goals and four assists.

He has also come in for plenty of praise from Flick. The Barcelona manager spoke about the forward recently amid speculation he could move in the summer.

“For [Roony], he’s a fantastic professional. The situation isn’t easy for him. He’s hoping for more playing time. Sometimes it’s like that; he has one of the best in the world ahead of him.

“He’s an extraordinary player, he plays with the best in the world, and he’s also improved a lot. I already told him we’d talk at the end of the season. Everyone is important, and we need them motivated.”

Being left out of the World Cup squad will be a big blow to Roony, and we’ll have to wait and see if it makes an impact on his plans for the future.
