Real Madrid have published a statement regarding the concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid C. F. announces that the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid has issued a ruling, notified today, which fully upholds the appeals filed by José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez and Real Madrid Estadio S. L., to which the Public Prosecutor’s Office adhered, against the Order of January 15, 2026, issued by the Investigating Court No. 53 of Madrid in Preliminary Proceedings 2034/2024, which ordered the continuation of the aforementioned proceedings through the abbreviated procedure.
The aforementioned judicial resolution clearly and categorically concludes that neither José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez, the club’s general director and member of its Board of Directors, nor Real Madrid Estadio S. L. are responsible for any criminal offense in relation to the concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. It agrees, as requested by both and with the conformity of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, to the unconditional dismissal of the proceedings regarding them, thereby definitively ending the criminal process.
The Provincial Court also concludes that the responsibility for ensuring compliance with the decibel limits for ambient sound transmission, as stipulated by the Municipal Ordinance on Protection against Acoustic and Thermal Pollution of February 25, 2011, lies with the promoter companies leasing the stadium, as they are the ones who promote, organize, develop, and execute each event. It further adds that the mere violation of a general administrative provision for environmental protection does not, in itself, warrant the intervention of criminal law.
Real Madrid expresses its satisfaction with this judicial resolution, which confirms the absolutely unfounded and instrumental nature of the complaint filed by the Neighborhood Association of Those Affected by the Bernabéu and six other neighbors against José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez and Real Madrid Estadio S. L.
Real Madrid reiterates its full confidence in the administration of justice and will continue to collaborate with the competent authorities in all necessary matters.
It is important to note that this doesn’t mean that concerts will be allowed from now on, given that the promoter companies will need to meet the requirements of the law, something that can’t happen if the Santiago Bernabéu doesn’t undergo more renovations.
