Cowboys veterans already impressed with Caleb Downs

When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Caleb Downs, they knew what they were getting.

An experienced safety with impressive leadership abilities who could lead this Cowboys defense.

Downs has already made a huge impression on his Cowboy teammates.

Quarterback Dak Prescott says he “loves” Downs’ mindset.

“I love that way that’s he wired and I’m excited for him,” Prescott said. “He’s got some great vets, whether it be myself to ask questions to or great vets on that defensive side now to help make sure that he gets off to a great start.”

Prescott wasn’t the only one impressed with Downs; so was Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who called Downs a “hard worker.”

“He’s a worker for sure,” he said. “He wants to get better every day. His film speaks for itself. I feel like he came in already with the media talking about he’s a first rounder and they’re expecting a lot from him. He just kind of disregarded it, just coming in working every day hard. Just want to help do whatever to help the team [get] better.

The Cowboys were so impressed with Downs that they traded up to get him, and it sounds like he has already won over his new teammates.
