There is someone to blame for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ stunning Game 1 loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden.
Forget coach Kenny Atkinson not using his timeouts as the Knicks charged back from 22 points down. Forget James Harden getting roasted on defense by Jalen Brunson. Heck, you can even forget Dennis Schroeder 1-for-9 on field goal attempts.
The Cavs follies can be placed on Danhausen.
Who?
That’s right, the WWE wrestler whose gimmick is cursing his foes. He is “very nice and very evil.” He’s also been in a feud with The Miz — the Parma-born wrestler who is very open about his love of Cleveland sports.
As such, Danhausen opted lay a curse on the Cavs prior to the start of the Eastern Conference Finals while appearing on ESPN’s “NBA Today” on Tuesday.
“I do have a special mission I’ve been sent on and that is for the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight,” Danhausen said. “Let them know that they are cursed.”
The only way to break a Danhausen curse, as he inferred Tuesday, is to pay him what he calls “human monies.”
“Danhausen told you the curse was real. We did it. Danhausen has cursed the Cavaliers, the Knicks have won and Danhausen has won,” the ghoulish wrestler said on Instagram after the game. “He’s now owed court side seats between Timothy Chalamet and Kylie Jenner.”
