Another big recruiting battle is starting to take form down in Texas, and the Oregon Ducks are in the thick of it.
Five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis announced his top 10 schools in his recruitment on Saturday. Oregon cracks the list, alongside Texas, Houston, SMU, Florida, LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, Indiana and Missouri. Williams-Callis is a five-star and the No. 30 overall player in the country, per the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
As of now, Texas A&M appears to be the favorite to keep him in-state, but the Ducks are scheduled to get him on campus for an official visit on May 28. Oregon has won recruiting battles in Texas for elite recruits in the past, most notably with Dakorien Moore. Williams-Callis is a potential superstar at the next level, having earned the nickname “The Texas Reggie Bush.”

In his junior season at Randle High School, Williams-Callis exploded for 3,502 rushing yards and 59 rushing touchdowns. In his high school career, Williams-Callis has totaled 7,554 yards and 133 touchdowns. Despite being undersized at 5-foot-7, the Texas back has incredible top-end speed and shiftiness, and great vision for blocks and open running lanes. He was named the Gatorade Texas State Player of the Year in 2025.
Despite being connected to many Texas programs, Williams-Callis also has ties to the Pacific Northwest. Former Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers and wide receiver James Rodgers both starred for the Beavers in the late 2000s.
Oregon already has four-star running back CaDarius McMiller committed in the class, but Williams-Callis is one of the highest-floor players in the 2027 cycle, and the Ducks will likely pull out all the stops to bring him to Eugene. He has already taken official visits to SMU and Indiana, and Oregon will get the next shot at him. He is not expected to commit until later in the summer or early in the fall.
Perhaps Oregon’s rich history at the position could be used to sway Williams-Callis to be the next in line. After Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill Jr. were both heavily featured in the offense as freshmen, the Ducks have a decent pitch to make.
