The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles may be only a few days away from completing an A.J. Brown trade.

And the reality is that at this point, it seems like that’s the only way this can go.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio made a good point in a new article this week: If someone else was involved, we would’ve heard about it.

“If there was another team pursuing Brown, we’d know about it,” Florio writes. “The Eagles would have leaked it. The goal would be to pit two teams against each other in the hopes of getting the best possible return.”

For a while, there was chatter about the Los Angeles Rams, but nothing recent, and their roster construction and salary cap situation wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Brown at this point.

“As it stands, it’s the Patriots or no one,” Florio writes. “And with all indications pointing to the Eagles and Brown being beyond the point of no return, Philly’s only play is to make a deal.”

Florio goes on to point out that the Eagles have added Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon this offseason. They’ve got lots of WR depth beyond DeVonta Smith even after a Brown trade.

“If Brown has decided he craves a reunion with Mike Vrabel, who coached Brown in Tennessee, a new team may not be thrilled about the prospect of giving up significant value for a player who would walk through the door reluctantly,” Florio writes.

It’s hard to see Brown spending the 2026 NFL season anywhere but New England.

The deal can happen as soon as June 2, which is when salary cap implications lighten for the Eagles. Maybe it’ll take a little longer, but it’s only trending in one direction.
