Former Dayton guard earns NBA workout with hometown team

May 29—Former Dayton Flyers guard Javon Bennett will work out with the Orlando Magic on Friday, May 30, according to the Ary Report, an NBA insider on social media.

Bennett, an Orlando native who attended Trinity Prep High School, shared the news on X on Thursday, May 29. His high school is 15 miles from the Magic’s training facility.

Bennett finished his college career in March. He played one season at Merrimack and three at Dayton.

Last season, Bennett led the Flyers in scoring with 15.8 points per game. He made the Atlantic 10 Conference first team.

Bennett scored 1,238 points for Dayton. He ranks 33rd in school history in scoring. He’s the only player under 6-foot who has scored 1,000 points for the Flyers. He became the 19th player to reach the milestone in two or three seasons.

Bennett graduated from the University of Dayton in May, along with teammates Jacob Conner, Jordan Derkack and Keonte Jones.
