CLEMSON — Clemson football added its third defensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of Desmond Malpress on June 1.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder from Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida, is a four-star edge rusher. He is the No. 15 player in the state and the No. 147 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite.
In his junior season, Malpress recorded 15 tackles, including 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in six games.
Malpress chose Clemson over rival South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida and Florida State, posting his commitment on Instagram.
His commitment comes after Clemson landed two recruits after its big visit weekend May 29-31. Malpress’ pledge continues the Tigers’ strong recruiting momentum, earning nine commits in 14 days.
Clemson’s 2027 class has 16 commits and is ranked No. 13 nationally (second-best in the ACC). The Tigers have 10 four-star players and six three stars.
Malpress is Clemson’s third Florida commit, joining four-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons and four-star edge rusher Santana Harvey.
