Tottenham have told midfielder Lucas Bergvall that he is not for sale, talkSPORT understands.
Bergvall has been heavily linked with a summer exit following an injury-hit season in north London.
The midfielder, who was part of the Sweden side that exited the World Cup earlier this week, was restricted to just 11 league starts in the 2025-26 campaign.
And there were reports that Spurs would look to cash in on the 20-year-old this summer.
Bergvall himself was believed to have informed the club that he wanted to leave during the transfer window.
However, Bergvall has been informed he won’t be sold in the off-season despite interest from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.
This comes despite the recent addition of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.
The Portuguese midfielder became the club’s record signing on Thursday.
Spurs, though, are expected to break that again with the impending addition of Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.
The north London side have agreed to cough up a £100million package to sign the Italian from the Magpies, talkSPORT understands.
Tonali, who was linked with a January deadline day move to Arsenal, is now expected to complete the formalities of the transfer before joining Roberto De Zerbi’s side this week.
Tottenham’s hectic summer
Spurs have experienced a hectic summer already as they look to avoid another relegation-threatened campaign.
The capital outfit only guaranteed Premier League football on the final day of the season as a 1-0 win over Everton sent rivals West Ham down to the Championship.
Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi both joined on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively.
Martin Dubravka has also arrived to provide cover for Antonin Kinsky, the Czech having signed a new deal earlier this week.
Jan Paul van Hecke, meanwhile, completed his switch from Brighton to Spurs last month.
Three players have left Spurs already this summer as Yves Bissouma’s contract wasn’t renewed.
Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani have both returned to parent clubs Bayern Munich and PSG after their respective loan deals ended.
Teenage centre-back Luka Vuskovic is set for a move to Brighton in a £46million deal, talkSPORT understands.
