A Bucs coaching legend is returning to his roots in 2026

Scott Dochterman reported that Iowa Hawkeyes football is hiring longtime NFL assistant Tom Moore as a senior consultant to the head coach and offensive advisor.

For Tampa Bay fans, Moore remains one of the more respected offensive minds connected to the organization over the last two decades. He spent years helping shape offenses at both the NFL and college levels, including time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during multiple coaching staffs.

Moore is best known nationally for his work with Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts, where he served as offensive coordinator during one of the league’s most productive offensive eras. Even deep into his coaching career, his influence continued to carry weight across multiple organizations because of his experience building quarterback-friendly offensive systems.

The Iowa connection makes this move especially fitting. Moore played quarterback for the program in the late 1950s, so this role brings him back to where his football career began.

At 87, Moore remains involved in football, which speaks volumes about the level of respect he still commands in the sport.
