Aaron Donald is thinking about it.
The Los Angeles Rams‘ retired defensive legend saw, like everyone else, that the Rams traded for Myles Garrett on Monday from the Cleveland Browns.
Garrett has a case as the best edge rusher of his generation. Donald has an open-and-shut case as the best interior defensive lineman of this generation.
Donald hasn’t played since 2023, but maybe that changes now.
Speculation began immediately about Donald coming out of retirement to join Garrett.
Pat McAfee reached out with a text to Donald and shared on his show Tuesday what Donald said.
Essentially, Donald told McAfee that the move “for sure got him thinking,” and that he’d have to see if he could get the “fire” revved back up.
I reached out to @AaronDonald97 this morning..
According to source(s) it for sure got him thinking..
He said he’s 35 and he’s gotta see if that fire can light backup..

MORE: Myles Garrett’s Browns career comes to the most Cleveland of endings
This has officially become one of the most compelling stories of the NFL offseason.
Donald just turned 35 in May, and he hasn’t played in the NFL since 2023, when he appeared in 16 games and had 8.0 sacks. Still, his return would be an immediately massive move for the Rams.
The rest of the NFC West would have a tall task on their hands. For that matter, so would the rest of the NFL.
All eyes will be on Donald now. If he’s going to make such a return decision, he still has time. But until he says he’s not coming back, Rams fans and football followers everywhere will be paying close attention.
