Super Eagles and Atletico Madrid forward has been tipped to fill Antoine Griezmann’s shoes at the club next season, <a href=”https://www.afrik-foot.com/en-ng/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Afrik Foot reports.

The French forward’s ten-year stint with Los Rojiblancos will end this summer, having already agreed a deal to join MLS side Orlando City after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Lookman, who only just joined in February, was in awe of the 2018 World Cup winner, even <a href=”https://www.afrik-foot.com/en-ng/super-eagles-plea-against-griezmann-orland” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>issuing a plea for him to stay at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano beyond this season.

Lookman tipped to fill Griezmann’s shoes at Atletico

The former Atalanta man has stepped up in big games for Diego Simeone’s side since joining from Italy in the winter transfer window.

The fact that he’s settled in nicely has impressed several people, including ex-Flying Eagles coach Fatai Amoo.

Having helped Atletico to the Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad, Amoo tipped Lookman to surpass his recent achievements next term.

“There is no doubt that Lookman has been exceptional at Atletico Madrid since joining the club. His contributions in terms of goals have been exceptional as well,” the former Shooting Stars coach said in an interview with <a href=”https://www.completesports.com/amoo-lookman-has-been-exceptional-at-atletico-madrid/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Complete Sports.

“He has added more value to the team, and his impact has been top-notch. I see a big future for Lookman at Atletico Madrid, considering that he has barely spent four months with the squad.

“I expect him to play a big part with the team next season,” Coach Amoo concluded.
