It didn’t take many games in the 2026 season for the four-time MVP to start putting on a show. Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson keeps making history, putting up 45 points in a 101-94 win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday.
The stellar showing was the fifth time in Wilson’s career that she’s put up 40-plus points in one game. As a result, Wilson breaks an WNBA record that she had previously shared with Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi.

Wilson’s 45 points is the second-highest in her career, after her record-tying, 53-point outing back in 2023. She becomes the first player in WNBA history to record multiple games with 45 or more points.
On Friday, Wilson’s latest monster performance propelled the Aces over the Sun, who fought against Las Vegas’ lead in the second half but simply couldn’t overcome it.
Postgame, Wilson was pretty humble about the big game, saying that she was “patient” in finding her shots.
“When you’re able to find shots within our system, and just letting the flow of the game take over, that’s big to me. I want to be efficient. It’s beautiful to rack up all these points, like oh my gosh, but to be efficient, that’s what’s key,” Wilson said in a postgame press conference.
She was, in fact, incredibly efficient on Friday: Overall, Wilson went 15-of-18 from the field, including 2-for-2 from three, and pitched in three rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Wilson also went 13-for-13 on her free throws — a fact that made teammate Chelsea Gray give her a high five in the press conference.
After the game, Aces head coach Becky Hammon was more clear in her praise for Wilson.
“I mean, she unbelievable,” Hammon said. “The threes, she just continues to sprinkle those in. She got a lot of early touches, got her going early, and then just rolling, just kind of riding her from there.”
The win moves Las Vegas to 3-1 in the early part of the season, with the team concluding their four-game road trip against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.
