Andre Onana Reignites Feud With Samuel Eto’o Through Controversial Book Post

Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has once again fuelled tensions with Samuel Eto’o after appearing in a video reading a controversial book critical of the FECAFOOT president.

The Trabzonspor shot stopper shared a video of himself dressed in a suit while reading a book titled “L’Arnaque” during a car ride.

Although the clip initially appeared harmless, fans quickly noticed the significance of the book, which was written by journalist Jean Bruno Tagne in 2023 and strongly criticises Eto’o’s leadership at the Cameroon Football Federation.

Tagne previously worked closely with Eto’o during his successful campaign for the FECAFOOT presidency in 2020 before later turning against the former Barcelona striker.

The book reportedly highlights alleged authoritarian practices within Eto’o’s administration and has remained controversial in Cameroonian football circles.

Onana’s decision to publicly display the book has been widely interpreted as another indirect attack on Eto’o amid their long running feud.

The relationship between the two figures has deteriorated significantly over the past few years.

Tensions first became public in 2023 following disagreements involving former Cameroon coach Rigobert Song and issues surrounding Onana’s late arrival during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Since then, the divide between Onana and Eto’o has continued to grow, with reports suggesting the goalkeeper could even face suspension from the national team setup.

Ironically, Onana’s football journey began at Fundesport, the academy founded by Eto’o to develop young Cameroonian talents.

The latest social media post is expected to further intensify discussions surrounding the internal tensions within Cameroonian football as supporters continue debating both men’s roles in the ongoing conflict.
