Azzi Fudd will get her first career start for the Dallas Wings for Thursday’s matchup versus the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces.
The No. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft had the best game of her rookie career thus far in Sunday’s 91-76 win over the New York Liberty, scoring 24 points and hitting six 3-pointers. That doubled the highest scoring total she’s reached this season.
Fudd being in the starting lineup is necessitated by the Wings having several players listed on the league’s injury report before Thursday’s game. Arike Ogunbowale is listed as questionable, while Alanna Smith is out for the game, both due to illness. Paige Bueckers, who matched Fudd’s 24 points on Sunday, is listed as probable with a left leg injury.
Previously, Zaza James was also listed as questionable due to sprained ankle, while Costanza Verona and Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu were designated as day-to-day for undisclosed reasons.
