The Buffalo Bills are making a notable roster move after the action-packed 2026 NFL Draft.
On Wednesday, Bills.com writer Alec White reported that the Bills are signing a former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Champion who’s as multi-dimensional as it gets on the football field.
“The Buffalo Bills have added a fullback to the roster, signing former Eagles FB Ben VanSumeren to a one-year deal,” White stated.
“VanSumeren’s football journey has been unique, to say the least. His athletic ability has allowed him to carve out roles wherever he is, providing value on defense, offense, and special teams.”
“VanSumeren was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and was listed as a linebacker while contributing on special teams. He made the switch back to fullback in 2024, saying, “It really feels natural. It’s something I did growing up,” via the Eagles’ official website.”
While Vansumeren has only appeared in 20 career games since entering the league in 2023, it’s impressive that the Michigan State product has experience contributing in different facets of the game and has already captured a Super Bowl before age 30.
With Vansumeren committing to the fullback position two years ago, his sole focus should be on making life easier for James Cook by helping to create clear running lanes for the 26-year-old star RB.
