Following the signings of their first two midfielders, Manchester United are seeking their third and final player for the heart of their team this summer.
The Red Devils originally looked to have wrapped up the signing of Brazilian international Ederson from Serie A side Atalanta, but ended up cancelling the transfer after second thoughts.
Michael Carrick’s side quickly added Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea afterwards, spending a combined total of £85 million on the two Premier League midfielders.
Now the club will be hoping to add a third midfielder.
AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone has been significantly touted as the player the Red Devils are after; however, the Italian side wish to have a deal completed by July 31. United could be set to have to look elsewhere, and it appears an offer has been presented to them.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that Brazilian international Danilo has been offered to Manchester United.
At this current stage, the deal is not advancing, as Manchester United have other targets.
It comes just two days after BBC Sport revealed that Manchester United and Newcastle are both interested in signing Danilo.
The Botafogo midfielder has been capped 8 times by the Brazilian national team, scoring two goals in those games. Danilo came through at Palmeiras before signing for Nottingham Forest in 2023. In July 2025, the 25-year-old signed for Botafogo, but could already be on the move.
While this doesn’t appear to be an imminent transfer, Fabrizio Romano’s report shows how Manchester United have options on the table.
The Red Devils are clearly and carefully assessing their options – an important trait as they look to navigate having domestic and European football in the 2026/27 campaign.
As the next season edges closer and closer, Michael Carrick’s side will be hoping to snap up their final midfield signing as soon as possible.
