There has been some buzz in recent weeks about the Celtics potentially making a move for Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst hasn’t heard any official links between Boston and the star forward.

“I know some people are linking him to Boston, but I have not heard that Giannis, Boston, and Milwaukee are serious about it. That’s out there, but I haven’t heard it,” Windhorst said Wednesday on ESPN Cleveland.

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the Celtics and a potential trade for Antetokounmpo, largely due to speculation that Boston might be looking to move on from Jaylen Brown. Many believe he could be the key player to facilitate a trade that would bring Antetokounmpo to the Celtics.

Just because Windhorst mentioned he hasn’t heard anything about a potential deal between the Celtics and Bucks doesn’t mean one isn’t out there. Since Windhorst is regarded as one of the top insiders in the NBA, his comments often carry weight, and people usually pay attention to what he says.

There’s still probably about a month before the Bucks move on to trading Antetokounmpo. If they plan to trade him, it should happen before the 2026 NBA Draft on June 23. This timeline would still give the Celtics plenty of time to jump into the mix for him if they aren’t already in the running.
