Lukas Reichel will be remaining in Boston for another season.

The Bruinsannounced the team has signed forward Lukas Reichel to a one-year contract extension through the 2026-27 season with an NHL cap hit of $950,000. He will remain an RFA at the end of the season, so Boston will still have control over him.

Boston acquired Reichel on March 6 from the Vancouver Canucks for a 2026 sixth-round pick. It was a low-risk move from the Bruins to acquire a former first-round pick who is now on his third NHL team.

Reichel appeared in 29 games this season between Boston, Vancouver, and the Chicago Blackhawks, recording three goals and five assists for eight points. With the Bruins, he recorded one goal and two assists for three points in 10 games as he averaged 12:49 of ice time. He also appeared in one playoff game for Boston.

The 23-year-old represented Germany at the Olympics and was selected 17th overall in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft by Chicago.

With Reichel re-signing, he will enter training camp looking to earn a roster spot. The skilled winger could be a middle-six forward for Boston next season.

Following Boston’s extension of Reichel, the Bruins will have just over $15 million in cap space for free agency, which could make Boston a big player.
